The industrial sector, with a 27.3 percent employment share, is one of the most important economic sectors in the province. The value added share of the industrial and mining sectors in the gross domestic product is 17.1 percent. According to the latest statistics published by the Statistical Center of Iran, the value added of industrial activities in industrial workshops with 10 or more employees in the province was 43,726 billion rials, of which 7.7 percent was related to the production of food products, 24.6 percent to the production of other non-metallic mineral products, about 20.4 percent to the production of medicines and chemical and herbal pharmaceutical products, and 10.8 percent to the production of chemicals and chemical products. The aforementioned statistics show that the four aforementioned activities account for more than 63 percent of the value added of industrial activities in Lorestan province.
